  • Minister of Finance, Defence and Corporate Affairs dedicated the Hawk-i aircraft to the Nation on August 26, 2017.

    The unit of Hindustan Cables Limited (HCL) at Naini, Uttar Pradesh was taken over by HAL to form a subsidiary company and incorporated under the Companies Act as “Naini Aerospace Limited (NAeL)” and an agreement of taking over was signed at New Delhi on January 30, 2017.

    HAL signed two separate contracts for supply of 32 ALHs (Mk-III Wheel Version) to Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy on March 29, 2017.  

    Production of HAL designed 5.8 ton category Light Combat Helicopter was launched on August 26, 2017. 

    The 50th AL31FP engine of Su-30 aircraft, manufactured from raw materials by Sukhoi Engine Division, Koraput was handed over to IAF in Delhi on October 23, 2017.
     

  • Prime Minister, laid the foundation stone for HAL's new Helicopter Manufacturing Facility at Biderehalla Kaval, Gubbi Taluk, Tumakuru, Karnataka on January 3, 2016.

    HAL rolls-out HTT-40 prototype on January 29, 2016. 

    The first carriage flight of Su-30 MKI aircraft with BrahMos missile was successfully achieved at HAL airport, Nashik on June 25, 2016.

    Inaugural flight of India's own indigenous HTT 40 (Basic Trainer Aircraft - BTA) designed and developed by HAL on June 17, 2016 at HAL airport Bengaluru.

  • Defence Minister  handed over the first series production Light Combat Aircraft, Tejas made by HAL to the Indian Air Force at a ceremony at HAL Bengaluru Complex on January 17, 2015.

    HAL handed over the first overhauled Su-30 MKI (SB 027) aircraft to the India Air Force through the Defence  Minister,  at a ceremony held at Nashik on January 9, 2015 

    HAL bagged a major Defence contract for supplying 14 Do-228 aircraft to the Indian Air Force.

    Astra, India's first indigenous Beyond Visual Range (BVR) air-to-air missile integrated by HAL on Su-30 MKI aircraft was successfully launched from Chandipur, Odisha.

    HAL successfully carried out maiden flight of Jaguar DARIN III Upgraded Strike Aircraft on March 25, 2015.

    Ojhar airport (Nasik) terminal building was handed over to HAL by the Maharashtra state government on April 8, 2015. 

    HAL supplied three Cheetal helicopters to Afghanistan Air Force (AAF). 

    The inaugural run of the core of 25 kN indigenous Aero Engine (Hindustan Turbo Fan Engine – HTFE 25), was successfully completed in the presence of Defence Minister,  at HAL's Engine Division on December 14, 2015.

    The Centre for Military Airworthiness & Certification accorded Initial Operational Clearance (IOC) for weaponized ALH Mk-IV (IAF version) on December 21, 2015 at Bengaluru.

    HAL celebrated its Platinum Jubilee.
     

  • The Prime Minister handed over HAL's star product ALH-Dhruv to the Prime Minister of Nepal Shri Sushil Koirala at Kathmandu on November 25, 2014.

    India's indigenously designed and developed frontline fighter aircraft, Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) achieved an important milestone on December 20, 2013 by getting Initial Operational Clearance (IOC II) and entered the stage of induction into IAF squadrons.

    The custom-made ALH-Dhruv for Heliborne Surveys aptly named as Garuda Vasudha dedicated to the nation on January 22, 2014.

    LCH TD3 made its Maiden Flight. 

    HAL’s MiG Complex, Nasik celebrated its 50 years of establishment with  a two-day seminar on the theme “Self-Reliance in Aerospace Sector (SRIAS)-2014” on November 10-11, 2014.
     

  • The Defence Minister, Mr. A. K. Antony handed over HAL's DO-228 Aircraft to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Seychelles, Mr. Jean-Paul Adam, at a function in New Delhi on January 31, 2013. 

    The state-of-the-art Manned Chamber Welding (MCW) shop, the only of its kind in the country and second in the world, was inaugurated at HAL's Koraput (Sunabeda) facilities in Odisha on May 9, 2013. 

    The first indigenous chopper of India, Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH –Dhruv) designed, developed, produced and maintained by HAL achieved the milestone of flying one lakh hours on October 9, 2013.

    The Indian Navy inducted the first fully Indian manufactured Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer produced by HAL at INS Dega, Vishakhapatnam on November 6, 2013.
     

  • The General Contract for Multirole Transport Aircraft (MTA) Project signed between HAL and MTAL, UAC-TA, Russia in Bengaluru on 28th May 2012

    Detail Design and analysis for all the structural parts and analysis for structural assembly of LUH completed. Design of assembly jigs completed.

    A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between HAL and the Government of Karnataka, during Global Investors' Meet on June 7, 2012.  As per the MoU, HAL will invest Rs 600 crores to establish a manufacturing unit for new fighter aircraft and engine production adjacent to HAL Airport.

    The Mars Orbiter Mission satellite structure was handed over to Indian Satellite Centre (ISAC), Bengaluru of ISRO on June 22, 2012.

    Second Prototype of Intermediate Jet Trainer (IJT) completed the first flight successfully on 26th March.

  • First Flight of indigenously designed and developed Intermediate Jet Trainer (IJT), took place on 7th March 2003. The inaugural flight took place on 21st March in the presence of Hon'ble Raksha Mantri.

    Contracts for co-development & co-production of Shakti Engine and direct purchase of TM-333-2B2 engines inclusive of overhaul with M/s Turbomeca (TM) was signed on 13th January (for use on ALH).

    LCA aircraft has been christened as TEJAS by Hon'ble Prime Minister on 04th May 2003.

    Centre of Excellence for Composites was set up at ARDC, Bangalore and was inaugurated on 14th August.

    First flight test on Jaguar Navwass Upgraded aircraft with Indigenous Mission Computer (MC) was carried out on 29th September.

    Certification for ALH Civil Version obtained from DGCA on 31st October.

    First flight on Prototype Vehicle (PV-1) of LCA (Tejas) was completed on 25th November.

  • Delivered the first batch of indigenously designed Advanced Light Helicopter (DHRUV) to our customers (IAF & ARMY). This Helicopter was dedicated to the service of the Nation by the Hon'ble Raksha Mantri on 30th March 2002.

    Series production activities for manufacture of first batch of 8 LCA aircraft have been initiated on signing of an MOU with ADA on 06th June, 2002.

    Overhaul of aircraft such as C-47 Cargo Planes, B25 Light Bombers, B24 Heavy Bombers, Catalinas, and Other Aircrafts ( totaling to 1171 numbers) in addition to Overhauling of Engines (3800 nos.) were carried out in the factory since 1943 after it was taken over by US.

    With the termination of the war, U.S. Air Force transferred the Management of the Factory back to Govt. of India in August.

    In April the Factory was taken over by the Government.

    The U.S Army Air Force faced with colossal aircraft repair and overhaul requirements took over the Management of HAL from Govt. for the duration of the World War - II.

  • First Flight of Harlow Aircraft in 1941.

    In March the Indian Govt. became part owners. The first aircraft assembled by the factory was flown in August.

  • HAL Factory Site during 1940.

    Hindustan Aircraft Factory” promoted by Late Walchand Hirachand for manufacture of American Aircraft under Licence was established. It was set up with the objective of promoting aviation industry for assembly and overhaul of aircraft, engines and accessories under license. The foundation stone was laid by the late Walchand Hirachand on 24th December 1940.

  • DGCA Awarded Type Certification for Hindustan 228 on May 19, 2022.
     
    LCA Mk1A took its maiden flight on May 20, 2022.
     
    HAL and Safran Helicopter Engines signed an agreement to create a new joint venture intended to develop helicopter engines at Corporate Office on July 8, 2022.
     
    The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu inaugurated Integrated Cryogenic Engine Manufacturing Facility (ICMF) in Bengaluru on September 27, 2022.
     
    The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi unveiled scaled model of HTT-40, the indigenous trainer aircraft designed and developed by HAL at the India Pavilion, DefExpo-2022 on October 19, 2022.
